Came into this world screaming! From a child through an adult I loved to perform on my trumpet...always wanted to do it for a living. However, I got side tracked doing the whole teaching ministry thing for several years in the field of Educational Ministry through the WELS synod.
After spending 12 years of my life getting caught up in political and scandalous dealings in the Education field, I called it quits. Not sure what direction life would take me, I took up a job at Kwik Trip Industries out of La Crosse, WI. Spent time doing hard labor in the freezer for several years; than found a new calling doing even harder labor as a router lifting close to 100,000 lbs in my four day work week.
Needless to say I was in dire need of finding a hobby to fill the void in my life. A great friend of mine, John Elsen, invited me on a mountain bike ride and I was immediately hooked. Being 225 lbs and on a cheap Raleigh bike, I soon learned what it meant to crash with your bike and shed a lot of pounds.
Over the last 6 years I have biked for exercise and because I love to do it. In 2010 I took up the coaching aspect of the sport through USA cycling, and I'm continuing to mature as a cyclist both competitively and intellectually. Being middle age I know that there are limits to how far I can go in the sport on a competitive level. In 2011, I was approved to race professionally in the discipline of mountain biking.
However, do to my lack of experience in the sport (only 5 years of racing), I'll be back doing the amateur seen (CAT1) for 2012. Hopefully in the next year or two, I'll prove to be more competitive and race professionally again. I'm married to Michele Tillman and have two wonderful boys to come home to. Life is Good!
Karl this website is flaming HOT! Glad to see you are coming up here to race the WhiteTailRidge!
ReplyDeleteThanks Bob...I'll try not to disappoint. Love the trails up by you. It's a shame it was taken off the WORS schedule.
